Victoria Bay Lodge is a holiday resort  situated halfway between George and Wilderness on the picturesque Cape South Coast. Only 7km from George and 1,5 km from the beach. Victoria Bay is one of the most famous beaches in the vicinity for safe bathing and is ideal for angling and a challenge to top surfers. There are also natural paddling pools amongst the rocks where children can spend many happy hours playing. Young and old can splash about or quietly observe the little fish in the tidal pools.

A Beauty Pageant Workshop (Tiara Training) will be hosted in Mossel Bay at the Garden Route Casino Hotel & Spa on Saturday, 23 May. This is the ideal opportunity for Miss Garden Route & Klein Karoo entries and contestants to prepare for the pageant and learn more about the beauty and pageant industry.

Beauty Queens and people in the industry

Former Beauty Queens and well connected people in the industry will teach girls attending how to walk the walk and talk the talk. Beauty Queens and people in the industry will share their knowledge and experience with you.
Dieter Voigt (Mr South Africa 2008, professional model and Pasella presenter) is one of the celebrity speakers who will be talking to girls about pageants and the modeling industry.
Guest speakers will also include top make-up artists and image consultants to help you look your best.
You will learn everything you need to know about pageants (interviews, what to wear, public

Support the fight against women abuse

The Miss Garden Route & Klein Karoo project organizers are calling upon Southern Cape companies and small to medium enterprises to pledge their support to the fight against women abuse.

Women abuse has become a social dilemma of note within the Southern Cape, which emphasizes the importance of projects such as the Miss Garden Route & Little Karoo beauty pageant.  The Miss Garden Route & Klein Karoo project sets out to generate much needed funds to be donated to institutions combating women abuse.  In the past, institutions such as Creative Effective Families (Mossel Bay), Phambili (George) and Malibongwe (Oudtshoorn) has benefited from such donations, supporting day-to-day operations and much needed maintenance projects.  Various residents of shelters for battered and abused women have also enjoyed beauty sessions, rekindling the spiritual joy often lost in violent relationships.

The 2009 edition of Miss Garden Route & Klein Karoo will attempt to not only support victims of women abuse, but also to reach out to the silent victims; children originating from abusive households. Dieter Voigt (ex Mr. South Africa and Pasella presenter) will attempt to act as mentor to these children, providing them with various opportunities to ensure a brighter future, free from violence and neglect.

BEAUTY WITH A PURPOSE

Miss Garden Route & Klein Karoo

The Miss Garden Route & Klein Karoo 2009 beauty pageant, in aid of regional shelters for battered and abused women, has been officially launched.

Over the last five years, the Miss Garden Route & Little Karoo beauty campaign has grown into a community driven event, combating women abuse within the Southern Cape and Little Karoo.

During the 2008 campaign, an incredible R150 000 was generated through means of ticket sale proceeds, supported by an Avroy Shlain campaign in collaboration with Egoli. These funds were donated to three regional shelters; Creating Effective Families (Mossel Bay), Phambili (George) and Malibongwe (Oudtshoorn), acting as safe havens for victims of women abuse.

Funds were utilized to finance operational costs, and path the way for much needed maintenance and upgrades of available facilities.  The funds were also directed in aid of the “silent victims” of women abuse; children originating from abusive households.  Projects to cater for a children’s activity room and provide for educational books was successfully achieved.

Given the community successes achieved by the Miss Garden Route & Little Karoo campaign, the beauty campaign now sets out to include neglected children as beneficiaries of this community project.  Dieter Voigt (ex-Mr. SA & Pasella presenter) has joined forces with Garden Route Casino and associate sponsors in aiding the plight of children abuse.  Dieter plans to proactively work on his own identified projects with these children, pursuing various opportunities to ensure a promising future for them.

All proceeds generated by the 2009 edition of Miss Garden Route & Little Karoo will be donated to Creating Effective Families (Mossel Bay), Phambili (George) and Malibongwe (Oudtshoorn) in support of the valiant effort by these safe havens in answering the plight of abused women and children.

Beauty sessions will also be undertaken with ladies residing at shelters for abused women, as added motivation for restoring their dignity and pride.  The public – and private sectors within the region are invited to join forces with project leaders and associate sponsors, thereby effectively addressing a social dilemma within the Southern Cape community.

Apart from the immense community value of the campaign, the Miss Garden Route & Little Karoo beauty pageant in itself has developed into the social highlight on the events calendar of the Southern Cape and Little Karoo.  The Miss Garden Route & Little Karoo gala evening promises to be the highlight, boasting with a showcase of natural beauty and breathtaking fashion.

Furthermore, the venue for the event has been moved to the world renowned Pinnacle Point Beach & Golf Resort, adding even more glitz and glamour to the gala evening.  Beauty queens from across the region and designers in search of the ultimate spotlight are thus called upon to join the exposé of local beauty and creative genius.
